Objective By following-up the OLT patients who have been treated usingosteochondral autografts harvested from medial femoral chondyle of theipsilateral knee, we try to evaluate both ankle and knee joint conditionsafter operation.Methods28OLT patients, who receive the operation during2009~2014inour hospital have been followed up, International Knee DocumentationCommittee subjective knee form(IKDC) subjective knee form andLysholm score are used to score the knee function pre and post operation. The ankle function pre-and post-op are obtained by using AmericanOrthopaedic Foot&Ankle Society-ankle and hind-foot (AOFAS) scoreand Visual Analoge Scale (VAS) score. MRIs of the affected ankle jointsare further obtained for some of the patients after surgery.Results23patients complete the follow up, with the average duration of26.3±14.7mons. The average IKDC score is98.9±2.6pointspreoperatively,95.3±10.6points postoperatively, the average Lyshlomscore is96.7±7.3points preoperatively,93.4±12.2points postoperatively; The average AOFAS score has increased from55.5±19.2pointspreoperatively to89.3±8.6points postoperatively, the average VAS painscore has decreased form7.7±1.4points preoperatively to2.0±1.7pointspostoperatively. Among the23paients who have been followed,19patients have complete knee recovery after surgery, with the averagecomplete knee recovery time of8.9±5.4months.8patients (34.8%) showexcellent result about the surgery,9patients(39.1%) good,5 patients(21.7%) fair, and1patient(4.3%) poor. The overall patientsatisfaction rate is73.9%.Conclusion Using osteochondral autografts harvested from medial femoralchondyle of the ipsilateral knee for the treatment of osteochondral lesion ofthe talus is an ideal option. The operation is able to improve ankle functionand decrease pain significantly after surgery, while less likely to disturb theknee function.
