Objective To investigate the expression levels and clinical implication ofperipheral plasma miR-126、miR-130a、miR-222in patients with coronaryartery disease(CAD). Methods A case control study was conducted.87patients with CAD and28controls without CAD were included. Peripheralplasma miR-126、miR-130a、miR-222expression levels were detected withquantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR) analysis. Therelationship between plasma miR-126、miR-130a、miR-222expression levels inCAD patients of non-statin therapy group and the severity of coronary arterystenosis were analyzed. The differences of plasma miR-126、 miR-222expression levels between the CAD patients of non-statin therapy group andstatin therapy group were analyzed also. Results (1) Compared with controlgroup, the expression level of plasma miR-126was significantly decreased(fold0.048,P<0.05) in CAD of non-statin therapy group and miR-222wassignificantly increased(fold4.618,P<0.05)in CAD of non-statin therapygroup;miR-130a was decreased(fold0.210,P>0.05)in CAD of non-statintherapy group.(2) In CAD patients of non-statin therapy subgroup, scored by theimproved Gensini method, the expression level of plasma miR-126and miR-222were significantly different in mild group and severe group. Compared withcontrol group, the expression level of miR-126was lower in severe group(mildgroup with fold0.101,severe group with fold0.027)(P<0.05)and miR-222was higher (mild group with fold2.767,severe group with fold7.582)(P<0.05).(3) The expression level of plasma miR-126was lower in CAD patientsof non-statin therapy group than in statin therapy group (non-statin group withfold0.048,statin group with fold0.328)(P<0.05) and the expression level ofplasma miR-222was higher (non-statin group with fold4.618,statin group with fold1.391)(P<0.05). Conclusion The expression levels of peripheralplasma miR-126and miR-222in CAD patients were closely related to theseverity of coronary artery stenosis. The expression levels of peripheral plasmamiR-126was increased and miR-222was decreased in CAD of statin therapygroup.
