Objective Visually guided saccade is defined as a process which means through asaccade making the sight directed to an emerging target. To explore the eye trackingdysfunction of schizophrenia, and to find a potential diagnostic marker forschizophrenia. Methods Visually guided saccade was checked on27schizophrenia patients who metthe criterion of ICD-10and27matched normal control participates. First, theacceleration asymmetry index PVADI and AAI of each saccade was calculated; second, the relation of amplitude and PVADI and AAI (RPAand RAA) of every participate wasalso calculated; third, the RPAand RAAvalues of schizophrenia and normal controlgroup were compared. Forth, receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) of RPAandRAAwas sketched and area under curve (AUC) was also calculated to evaluate thegeneral diagnostic power of this index. Results Compared with normal control group, RPAvalues of schizophrenia group weresignificantly lower (Mann-Whitney U test,Z=-4.282,P <0.0001), in ROC analysis,AUC of RAAis0.840, asymptotic95%confidence interval was from0.731to0.948.RAAvalues of schizophrenia group were significantly lower (Mann-Whitney U test,Z=-5.562,P <0.0001), in ROC analysis, AUC of RAAis0.941, asymptotic95%confidenceinterval was from0.875to1.000.Conclusion These findings suggest that RAAwould be a potential auxiliary biologicalmarker to diagnosis schizophrenia.
