Calpains is a high regulative Ca2+-dependent proteases system that will promote muscular fibril disaggregation when hydrolization. In calpain system, calpain activator is the positive regulator and it can play a important role in activate calpain. Research indicated that UK114, the goat liver tumour antigen,is the activator of calpain-1. UK114, a14.5kD protein, is a member of a family of conserved low-molecular-mass proteins, and it’s widely distributed in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.These proteins that are usually composed of130amino acids, has highly expressed in liver and kidney, in comparison, has lowly expressed in cancer tissues of the liver cells. It is significantly down-regulated in tumor tissue of hepatocellular carcinoma as compared to the adjacent normal tissue.
