Objective:To compare the grey matter changes between patient withminimal hepatic encephalopathy and normal people by optimizedvoxel-based morphometry.Methods:16patients with MHE and17healthy volunteers as controlwere recruited in the study. To acquired the images by high-resolutionvolumetric T1-weighted images and analyzed data by VBM toolbox ofSPM5.Results:The volume of the bilateral lentiform nucleus, middletemporal gyrus, postcentral gyrus, cerebellum posterior lobe, hippocampus, right lingual gyrus, left globus pallidus, left anterior cingulate, left cuneus, thalumi, brainstem, in MHE patients group was difference with healthycontrol group [P <0.05(AlphaSim)].Conclusion:VBM can reveal volumetric changes of gray matter inMHE patients, which is a profound influence upon MHE clinical study interms of the early diagnosis of MHE and its pathogenic mechanism.
