| Objective:Measure the Corneal diameter of myopia operation people,to explore the difference in corneal diameter between genders, betweenright and left eyes, and the correlation between spherical equivalent(SE) andcorneal diameter. Methods: Corneal horizontal diameters[white-to-white(WTW)distance] were measured with IOL Master in126right eyes and126lefteyes of126healthy subjects aged between18to45years.There were96male participants and78female participants. Subjective refraction wasAdopted by NIDEK RT-2100comprehensive refractometer for each eye,and converted into the SE. Eyes were divided into three groups accordingto the SE as follows: group1[low myopia group, spherical equivalentbetween0.50D and3.00D(3.00<SE≤0.50)]; group2[median myopiagroup, spherical equivalent between3.00and6.00D (6.00<SE≤3.00)];and group3[high myopia group, spherical equivalents of6.00D or less(SE≤6.00)]. Then statistical analysis for the corneal diameter. Results: The average corneal diameter was (11.52±0.41)mm.Theaverage corneal diameter was (11.60±0.35)mm in males compared with (11.43±0.36) mm in females;(11.53±0.40)mm in right eyes and(11.51±0.42) mm in left eyes.Corneal diameters classified with SEwere11.59mmã€11.48mm and11.45mm respectively for low, moderate andhigh myopia.Differences in gender were significant in the t-test forindependent samples(t=0.121,P=0.009). There were no significantdifferences between right and left eyes in the t-test for paired samples (t=0.115,P=0.912). The corneal diameter was negatively correlated withthe SE(P=0.001). Differences among three groups proved to be significantin the ANOVA (F=4.487, P=0.004).Conclusions: The corneal diameter in myopia operation people wassignificantly greater in males than in females, but no significant differencesbetween right and left eyes. The corneal diameter is negatively correlatedwith the SE. The higher degree of myopia, the less of the corneal diameter. |
