Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of local injection of a hemostatic agent (batroxobin) for management of hemorrhage after minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Materials and Methods:A total of226patients undergoing minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy were randomized into4groups. Patients were injected with4U batroxobin,6U batroxobin or normal saline through nephrostomy tube during three days, while those in the control group received no treatment. The patient demographics and clinical data of the4groups were compared. Results:Baseline patient demographics were similar in both groups. Mean hemoglobin decrease in the batroxobin groups were significantly lower than that of the normal saline group and control group (P>0.05). The fever rate and complication rate were similar in both groups (P>0.05).Conclusions:The use of batroxobin in minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy is safe and associated with less hemoglobin decrease.
