Objective:To describe clinical characteristics and analyze the prognostic influence factors of hemangiopericytomas.Method and Materials:We collected the data of36patients who were pathologically diagnosed as hemangiopericytomas in xiangya hospital between December2006and March2012. A retrospective analysis was adopted for the general and disease informations of each patient. All patients were followed up for7to75months to define the curative effect and prognostic influence factors. All the analysis of the survival and the comparisons between groups, including univariate and multivariate analysis, were accounted by using Cox regression model. Inspection level of alpha(a) equal to0.05.Result:(1) The ages of the patients at the time of diagnosis ranged from5to62years (mean:47.5years). The ratio of male to female was1.2:1with21men and15women.29patients underwent gross total tumor resection,and7patients underwent partial tumor resection,9patients underwent postoperative adjuvant RT. Follow-up period ranged from7to75months (mean:40months). The local recurrence rate was19.4%(7/36), and there were no distant metastases.1recurrent patient died.(2)Surgery (X2=7.8459P=0.0051) and other treatments (X2=8.4223P=0.0037) were considered as the influence factors of hemangiopericytomas on univariate analysis.(3)On multivariate analysis, Surgery was the important influence factors in recurrent of hemangiopericytomas. The risk of recurrent in patients underwent partial tumor resection was18.657times than the patients underwent gross total tumor resection. To postoperative adjuvant RT, it can not be considered as the independent factor of recurrent betweent the subgroups of different operative evaluation. Conclusion:(1) Hemangiopericytomas (HPCs) is a rare tumor with aggressive behavior, including local recurrence and distant metastasis. It can occur in anywhere of the body.No prominent difference of the incidence rate between male and female, Middle-aged patients were the main. Clinical symptoms related to the position, no specificity. Imaging examination has certain implications for diagnosis, but histopathology is the only means of diagnosis.(2) Gross total tumor resection is very important to the prognosis. The risk of recurrent in patients underwent partial tumor resection was18.657times than the patients underwent gross total tumor resection. Safe and tolerable gross total tumor resection in the initial surgery can not only decrease the rate of recurrent, but also prolong disease-free survival time.Different degree of benefit was obtained for overall survival.(3) There had no statistical significance between patients with postoperative adjuvant RT and patients without postoperative adjuvant RT both on univariate analysis and multivariate analysis. The same conclusion for postoperative adjuvant RT in subgroups of different operative evaluation.
