ObjectiverTo explore the difference and distribution of vitamin D receptor(ApaI, BsmI) genetypes and allele frequency in Xinjiang Uygur population with MCI.know the relationship between vitamin D receptor gene polymorphism and mild cognitive impairment in elderly uygur people. Methods:Based on the MCI epidemiological survey among Xinjiang uygurs in October2010. In accordance with the clinical diagnostic criteria of MCI,124MCI patients were selected(male69, female55), average age is (65.63±7.45) years old. According to the age, gender of MCI patient(same or similar in age),124subjects were selected as control group (male70, female54), average age is(64.44±6.20) years old. Diagnostic criteria of MCI was based on the Disorder diagnostic and Statistical Manual(the revised version of the fourth Edition (DSM-IV)). All subjects DNA were extracted using DNA-extracting Kits, and then the VDR genotypes (Apal and BsmI) were analyzed by SNaPshot method. Results:There were statistically significant difference in Apal and BsmI genotype and allele frequency distribution In both of MCI group and control group(P<0.05), A allele of ApaI gene increased the risk of MCI compared with the C by risk analysis for the ApaI genotype and allele [OR=1.62,95%CI(1.13-2.31)]; also it was found that AA genotype of ApaI gene increased the risk of MCI compared with the CC genotype [OR=2.61,95%CI(1.24-5.51)]. T allele of BsmI gene increased the risk of MCI compared with C by risk analysis for the BsmI genotype and allele[OR=1.94,95%CI (1.24-3.05)]; also it was found that CT genotype of BsmI gene increased the risk of MCI compared with the CC genotype [OR=1.84,95%CI(1.07-3.17)], and TT genotype of BsmI gene increased the risk of MCI compared with the CC genotype [OR=5.16,95%CI (1.06-25.07)]. Multivariate logistic regression analysis involved SBP, TG, BsmI, Apal displayed that ApaI(AA) genotype increased the risk of MCI[OR=3.49,95%CI (1.57-7.74)]. The risk of MCI increased accompanied with higher TG and SBP level, the subject with both BsmI(TT) and ApaI(AA) genotype was easily suffer from MCI(P<0.05). Conclusion:VDR (ApaI) AA genotype, A allele and VDR(BsmI) T allele probably associated with elderly MCI patients in Uygur ethnicity, higher level of TG and SBP were risk factors to elderly people, with MCI among Uygurs. BsmI(TT) and ApaI(AA) genotype had relationship with Uygur people with MCI.
