Objective:258cases of the congenital duodenal obstruction werecollected, and the clinical characteristics and main treatment points indifferent age group were analysed and reviewed.Methods:258cases, with congenital duodenal obstruction treated inour department from2003to2012, were devided into two groups, including the neonatal group (184cases)and non-neonatal group(74cases).The cases were analyzed by retrospective study, and the clinicalcharacteristics and the main treatment points of the disease were reviewed.Results:(1)Congenital duodenal obstruction mainly appears duringneonatal period(X2=10.6583,P=0.0048).(2)Bilious vomiting(76.36%)was the most prominent clinical symptom(X2=37.4821,P<0.0001).(3)Positive detection rate of abdominal plain film, abdominal dopplerultrasonography, and upper gastrointestinal contrast were75.87%,73.71%and100%respectively, and the difference is significant.(X2=51.3660,P<0.0001)(.4)The common causes of congenital duodenal obstructionare congenital intestinal malrotation, duodenal atresia or stenosis and annular pancreas. When the diagnosis of congenital duodenal obstruction isconfirmed, surgical operation should be done as early as possible, and theprognosis is significantly better after earlier surgical treatment in mostcases.(The cure rate is96.88%in our group). Conclusion: The possibility of congenital duodenal obstructionshould be suspected in children with symptoms of bilious vomiting in earlystage, and making a definite diagnosis by upper gastrointestinal contrastand abdominal doppler ultrasonography as early as possible, and surgicaloperation should be done, and the prognosis is significantly better afterearlier surgical treatment in most cases.
