The Advances In Anesthetic Epilepsy Research

Epilepsy is kind of chronic brain disease due to abnormalhighly-synchronized neuronal discharge and its typically clinical feature isparoxysmal,transient and stereotyped brain dysfunction[1].As early as in1950, there are many cases about epileptic seizures under anesthesiareported[2-3].Recently,the risk assessment of epileptic seizures undersurgery and anesthesia has gained more and more attentions[4-5].In thisarticle, we systematically summarize the influence of anesthesia toepileptic seizures,the types/duration/frequency of seizures related toanesthesia and the epidemiology/prevention/treatment/prognosis.We alsoexplore the possible mechanism and provide guidance for the anesthesia ofsurgeries,especially for surgeries of epilepsy patients.
