| Objectives:Objectives of this article is to investigate the expression of AZGP1and EpCAM protein and their relationship with clinic characteristic of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods:The expression of AZGP1and EpCAM protein in50patients with hepatocellular cancer and14controls were examined by immunohistochemical technique. At the same time, relationship between AZGP1and EpCAM in hepatocellular cancer was explored.Results:1. Results Showed that AZGP1highexpressed in HCC patients. There were significan difference between AZGP1and serum AFP (P=0.036). but there werenot significan difference between AZGP1and gender (P=0.886), age (P=0.133), HBV infection (P=0.396), cirrhosis (P=0.304), tumor size (P=0.977), tumor number (P=0.131), intrahepatic metastasis (P=0.349) or portal vein thrombosis (P=0.951).2. EpCAM mainly expressed in cancer cells, while in14cases of liver cyst, liver stones, surgical resection of hepatic hemangioma composed of normal liver tissue in the control group, the expression was not detected or very low. There werenot significan difference between EpCAM and age (P=0.927), gender (P=0.203), HBV infection (P=0.712), cirrhosis (P=0.144), tumor size (P=0.389) or portal vein thrombosis(P=0294). There were significan difference between EpCAM and serum AFP level (P=0.010), tumor numbers (P=0.020) and intrahepatic metastasis (P=0.038).3. Their expression which were all high or low were respectively15cases and14cases. AZGP1highexpression and EpCAM lowexpression is12cases, on the contrary, the number was nine. There was positive correlation between the expression of AZGP1and EpCAM in HCC (r=0.164, P=0.256)Conclusion:1. The highexpression of AZGP1may be correlated with carcinogenesis, progression of HCC.2. The activation of EpCAM may be correlated with carcinogenesis, progression, invasion and metastasis of HCC.3. There was positive correlation between the expression of AZGP1and EpCAM in HCC. |
