Recent Research Progress Of Surgical Treatment For Thymic Tumor

Objective: To study the therapeutic method of thymoma, emphaticallysummarized the surgical methods and therapeutic effect.Methods: From September2011to March2014, totally53patientswith thymoma were treated in our department,include24male cases,29female cases,aged22to71, average (49.0-14.1). Thymoma withmyasthenia gravis (myasthenia gravis, MG) is16cases,2cases withsuperior vena cava syndrome,1case with chronic marrow value-addeddisease,1case with mixed connective tissue disease,1case with pure redcell barrier anemia.23cases underwent video-assisted thoracoscopesurgery(VATS)(including2cases of biopsy),29underwent conventionalopen surgery. Except3cases of biopsy, there were totally28cases ofthymoma resection, the remaining ones underwent thymoma expandresection, including8cases of pericardial partial nephrectomy,7cases ofpulmonary resection,2cases of phrenic nerve resection,2cases of superiorvena cava and brachiocephalic veinplasty,1cases of superior vena cavareplacement. Results: None of operative death case occured, but1case complicatedwith pleural effusion after1month,1case with myasthenia gravis died ofrespiratory failure two years later. So far,2cases were death, with thedeath rate3.77%;5cases were of recurrence, with the recurrence rate9.43%. Treated by surgery,16MG patients’ postoperative strengthimproved or even complete responsed to different extent.Conclusion: Surgery treatment effect of thymic tumor is good. AboveⅡ stage especially invasive thymoma need expanded resection, withradiation therapy and chemotherapy after surgery. Thymoma AB is easilycomplicated with MG.
