Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of the anesthesia ofpropofol-sufentanil under spontaneous ventilation for foreign body (FB)removal in children. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed relevant clinical findings of1953pediatric patients treated with rigid tracheobronchoscopy, allprocedures were performed with the anesthesia of propofol-sufentanilintravenous anesthesia combined with topical airway anesthesia underspontaneous ventilation. Results: Among the1953children, the foreign body (FB) wassuccessfully removed in1870(95.8%) patients,937cases (50.1%) were inright side, and noting was found in83patients, peanuts and seeds weremost common. During the procedure, nobody died and no pneumothorax,Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in5cases,7cases intubated because ofsignificant respiratory depression after induction. The induction time was11±6mins, the duration of surgery was17±12mins, and the recovery time was 29±17mins. Among the42cases that were transferred to PICUpostoperative,3died for respiratory and circulatory failure,4children withhypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and28children in severe pneumoniapostbronchoscopy. Conclusion: The anesthesia of propofol-sufentanil intravenousanesthesia combined with topical anesthesia under spontaneous ventilationin children for foreign body removal is effective and safe, it is worthy ofbeing promoted.
