ObjectiveEndoscopic third ventriculostomy has been shown to be a sufficient alternativein the Surgical treatment of obstructive hydrocephalus.To study indication andsurgical technique,66cases were analyzed.Method66patients were operated.Their age ranged from1month to one year(mean age:7months).CT and MRI showed obstructive hydrocephalus.The technique isinserting endoscope throush the foramen of Monro into,the third ventricle.thenperforating the floor of the third ventricle through supratentorial transfrontalapproach.ResultsThe period of follow up was6months to2years.54patients exhibitedimprovements including clinical signs or ventricle sizes.12cases failed. There wereno CSF leakage postoperativel, bleeding,infection and neurologic complications.ConclusionsThird ventriculostomy is safe.effective and less complicating.The indication ofendoscopic third ventfidostomy is occlusive hydrocephalus.
