Purpose:TO explore the impact of formaldehyde on embryonic heart development.Methods:The20pregnant rats were randomly divided into four groups:control group(Group-1): Indoor fresh air、low dose of Formaldehyde (Group-2):(4.8±1.3)mg/m3、medium dose of Formaldehyde (Group-3):(25.24±4.6)mg/m3and high dose group of Formaldehyde (Group-4):(119.64±15.4)mg/m3. The mice were exposed to formaldehyde and benzene by static state inhalation in a chamber for12days, two hours a day on the seventh pregnant day to the day of the fetal rats borne naturally. After three days of following experimental materials.Results:1.Embryonic developmental toxicity:four groups rats birth weight were7.96g,7.88g,7.80g,7.01g. The average number of birth weight of Group-4was significantly lower than that of other groups (P<0.05)2.Heart developmental toxicity:The difference of the abnormal heart incidence of each group was0%,0%,0%and8.9%respectively. High concentration group of young mice due to abnormal mice was higher than that of other groups.3.Serum aspartate aminotransferase level:Four groups of newborn mice average AST values were162.1U/L,170.0U/L,207.3U/L and318.7U/L. High concentration group was obviously higher than that of low concentration group and normal control group.4.Heart tissue ultrastructure:Air control group cardiomyocyte is ultrastructural basically normal. The disordered myocardial myofibrils, unequal sizes of swelling mitochondria with cristae dissolved and less glycogen granules can be showed in high concentration group.5.Heart tissue HE staining:Air control group revealed nonnecrotoc normal cardiomyocyte with cross striations. Only but a small amount of lymphocytes infiltration,the consequences of the low concentration and the medium concentration group are apprpximately similar with the consequence of the normal group.The cardiomyocyte of high concentration group revealed obverse abnormity, such as swelling and degeneration, cytoplasm with granule material, karyorrhexis and nuclear condensation in individual cells and vague cross striations.Conclusions:1.Formaldehyde have embryotoxicity. It can reduce the weight of newborn rats.2.Formaldehyde can cause myocardial cell degeneration and necrosis occurred.It can Impact of heart normal function. 3.Formaldehyde can produce toxic effects on the heart.
