[Abstract] Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of three antithrombotic agents on venous thromboembolism (VTE) after hip or knee arthroplasty. Methods: From February2012to December2013,150patients undergoing hip or knee arthroplasty in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into three groups according to antithrombotic agents. Deep vein thrombosis(DVT), pulmonary embolism(PE), bleeding complication of antithrombotic agents, quantity of bleeding, decrease of hemoglobin were observed and analyzed. Results:Among patients who received aspirin(42cases),2patients had DVT(4.8%), bleeding complication in2patients (4.8%).67cases in low-molecular-weight heparin(LMWH) group, DVT was be found in1patient (1.5%),1patient had symptomatic PE,bleeding complication in2patients (3.0%). While among those patients received rivaroxaban (41cases),1patient had DVT(2.4%), bleeding complication was be found in7patients(17.1%). There were not statistically significant between the three groups on DVT, quantity of bleeding and decrease of hemoglobin (P>0.05). The incidence of bleeding complication between the three groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions:Aspirin, low-molecular-weight heparin, rivaroxaban could effectively reduce the incidence of VTE after hip or knee arthroplasty, and efficacy was similar. Rivaroxaban has a high incidence of side effects and further clinical trials to be conducted to assess safety of rivaroxaban in clinical practice.
