Object: Analyzing the blood group natural antibody titer of critical patients andin-patients is an evaluation criteria for clinic diagnosis. Base on the patients samplestatistics, we aim to study the factors affecting the ABO blood group antibody titer indifferent populations. Methods: A total of45healthy young blood donors,30elderly donors, and30ICUpatients were included for detecting the ABO blood group natural antibody titer.Through AutoVueInnova (ORTHO) automatic blood analyzer, we observed theagglutination strength of every sample using doubling dilution. Then we evaluated theantibody titer levels by measuring the area under agglutination intensity curve.Subsequently, we detected the level of Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), AspartateTransaminase (AST), Total protein (PT), albumin (Alb), and creatinine (Cre) in healthyyoung blood donors group and ICU patients group. Meanwhile, the1month mortalityof ICU patients group was also been measured. The data were analyze with SPSS19.0,comparison among groups were performed using T-test and one-way ANOVA.Results:The ABO blood group natural antibody titer was decreased with age, statisticallysignificant difference (P<0.05) between young and elderly donor groups. The antibody titer have no significant difference (P>0.05) after store at4℃,37℃and roomtemperature (RT) for1week. The antibody titers were reduced at4℃and RT, halved at37℃for1month. The antibody titer have no significant difference (P>0.05) after thaw.Compare to healthy group, the ALT, AST, and Cre levels of ICU patients groupdramatically increased and the PT, Alb and natural antibody titer were strongly reduced(P<0.05).Conclusion: Store at4℃, room temperature (RT) and thaw have no influence on theantibody titer of serum. But not at37℃, the half-life period of serum at37℃is about1month. The ABO blood group natural antibody titer was decreased with age andreduced in critical patients.
