Helianthus annuus L., an annual herbage, belongs to Helianthus L., Compositae,which is mainly distributed in Northwest China, Northeast China and Inner Mongolia.The country of origin is North America. It is the main oil crops and food crops.Helianthus have pharmacological effects of anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidation,anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive and so on. There are a lot of literature for thestudies of the chemical constituents of Helianthus L.. More than160compounds haveisolated from Helianthus. The chemical constituents are complex, the mainly constituentsare sesquiterpenes, drop sesquiterpene, diterpenes, triterpenes, flavonoids, unsaturatedfatty acids and coumarin.Sunflower seeds have the significance for research either asfood or medicine.The chemical constituents were isolated by repeated silica gel chromatography,Sephadex LH-20gel column chromatography, medium pressure column chromatography,and semi-preparative liquid chromatography, and their structures were elucidated bychemical properties and spectroscopic analyses.38compounds were isolated, and34compounds were identified from the seeds of Heliangthus annuus L. to be(+)campholenol-10-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (KF-1),(+)campholenol-10-O-[β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1â†'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside](KF-2),(-)myrtenol-10-O-[α-D-apiofuranosyl-(1â†'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside](KF-3),(-)myrtenol-10-O-[β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1â†'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside](KF-4),(-)myrtenol-10-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (KF-5),6-acetyl-2,3-dimethylchromone (KF-6),6-acetyl-7-hydroxy-2,3-dimethylchromone (KF-7), ayapin (KF-8),3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid (KF-9),ferulic acid (KF-10),(3S,4R)-6-acetyl-3,4-dihydroxy-2,2-dimethylchromane (KF-11),courmaric acid (KF-12), trans-caffeic acid (KF-13),3-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-propanone (KF-14), isovanil-lic acid (KF-15), vanil-lic acid(KF-16), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (KF-17), indole-3-carboxaldehyde (KF-18),nicotinic acid (KF-19), flazine (KF-20), indole-3-carboxylic acid (KF-21), 3-(hydroxyl-acetyl)-1H-indole (KF-22), β-daucosterol (KF-23), β-sitosterol (KF-24),stigmasterol (KF-25), succinate (KF-26), erucic (KF-27), hexadecanoic-2,3-dihydroxypropyleste (KF-28),9-octadecenoic acid-2,3-dihydroxypropyleste (KF-29),butyrolactone (KF-30),9,12,13-trihydroxy-10,15-octadecadienojc acid (KF-31),methyl-9,12,13-trihydroxyoctadeca-10,15-dienoate (KF-32),9,12,13-trihydroxy-10-octadecaenoic acid (KF-33), methyl-9,12,13-trihydroxy-10-octadecenoate (KF-34).And KF-1, KF-2, KF-3are three new compounds, KF-4, KF-5, KF-9, KF-11, KF-14,KF-20, KF-22are obtained from genus Helianthus L. for the first time and KF-6, KF-7are obtained from this plant for the first time.In this paper, the studies of the chemical constituents of sunflower seeds laid thematerial foundation of pharmacological research and providing the theoretical basis.
