Objective To study the roles of Toll-like receptor2(TLR2) and Toll-likereceptor4(TLR4) in the progress of pulmonary Candida glabrata infection inexperimental mice. Methods The mice were divided into three groupsincluding the control group (group A), the group of mice infected with Candidaglabrata (group B) and the group of immunosuppressive mice infected withCandida glabrata (group C). Each group were sacrificed6mice respectively at1and3days after the execution success of Candida glabrata pulmonary infection. The lung tissues from each group were collected for pathological analysis andPT-PCR for detecting the expression level of TLR2,TLR4. Protein TNF alpha(TNF-α)level was measured by ELISA method. Results The pathologicalanalysis showed the normal structure and no inflammatory reaction in lungs ingroup A. The infiltration of inflammatory cells, weak injuries but no conidia orhyphae in lungs in group B. Most of the alveolar collapse and severe damage, part of the expansion, a large number of inflammatory cells infiltration, accompanying with conidia and hyphae accumulation were observed in group C.The expression levels of TLR2and TNF-α in lungs of the mice at the first dayand the third day were significantly higher in Group C than the other two groups(p <0.01); Group C TNF-αexpression level at the third day is higher than thefirst day (p <0.01), meanwhile TLR4showed expression. Conclusion TNF-α and TLR2expression may be involved in the infections and processing ofCandida glabrata and TLR4may play a synergistic.
