Background: Needlestick injury is the most common harm seriousoccupational injuries for medical personnel. As a nursing intern who has just enteredthe clinical, was a needlestick injuries high-risk group of occupational exposurebecause of lack of enough work experience, not skilled operation, the imperfectoccupational protective education of nursing interns. Therefore, explore the effectivenursing interns needle stabbing protection scheme is of great significance.Objective: To investigate the incidence of needlestick injuries, needlestickinjuries knowledge, attitude and behavior of the present situation and theintervention effect among nursing interns.Methods: It is a quasi-experimental research. The involved8departments aredivided into experimental group and the control group randomly, the nursing internsare assigned to the experimental group as research objects in the experimental groupin September,and the nursing interns are assigned to the control group as researchobjects in the controll group in September.It selected160nursing interns as theresearch objects in the second affiliated hospital of zhengzhou university2013-2014,standardized and systematic training of the experimental group a month, whichintroduces the harm of needlestick injuries and basic knowledge of protection, parts easy to happen in the case analysis of needlestick injuries and preventive measures,to strengthen explain department weekly lecture. Control group without anyintervention, carried out in accordance with the conventional teaching plan.3monthsafter intervention evaluation incidence of needlestick injuries, needlestick injuriesrelated knowledge, attitude and behavior analysis of the scores were compared.Results: The experimental group and control group in incidence of needlestickinjuries of nursing interns were43.75%,61.25%.The difference was statisticallysignificant(P <0.05), two groups of nursing interns in needlestick injuries occurwhen wearing gloves and specification to deal with the wound of difference wasstatistically significant (P <0.05), but the needlestick injuries happen when wearinggloves accounts for only35.71%of nursing interns, standard processing woundnursing interns accounted for44.05%,needlestick injuries reported rates accountedfor20.24%was statistically significant (P <0.05). Two groups of nursing interns inthe needlestick injuries related knowledge on the correct answer rates difference wasstatistically significant (P <0.05); In the aspect of attitude and behavior score hadstatistical difference (P <0.05).Conclusion: This study was under the guidance of in the knowledge,attitude,belief,practice model, the incidence of needlestick injuries of nursing interns wasdrooped, the knowledge and attitudes of nursing interns of needlestick injuries wasimproved and maintained effective; Nurses’ needlestick injury related behavior toimprove and maintain the effect is obvious. The training programs in nursing internsneedlestick injuries occupational protective education is effective and feasible,which is worth popularizing in the future continue to expand.
