BackgroundChina has a long history of drinking and has now become a great country ofwine production and consumption.Statistics show that in2009,wine output is morethan430million tons in China, beer production was approximately23.86milliontons(ranking first in the world). The number of perennial drinkers is300million,thewine has already become an integral part of people’s daily life. However, excessalcohol consumption tends to cause many diseases such as cardiovasculardisease, hyperglycemia.Medine database has a large number of research reports on the relationshipbetween alcohol intake and the incidence of diabetes,a majority of studies showedthat there existed U-shape curve between alcohol intake and risk of diabetes, thatis, compared with moderate-amount of alcohol intakes, the risk of occurring diabetesis higher in non-alcohol intakes or high-amount of alcohol intakers. In recentyears, lots of studies also show the relationship between hyperglycemia andcardiovascular disease.Goraya et al reported that regardless of the presence orabsence of clinical symptoms of coronary heart disease, compared DM patients with non-diabetic patients, the former had more total score of coronary atherosclerosis andhigher degree of stenosis in single and multi-vessal.Although many DM patients didnot have clinical symptoms of coronary heart disease, but about3/4patients’totalscore of coronary atherosclerosis is abnormal.Dortimer et al compared elderly CHDpatients with DM and elderly CHD patients alone, found that the sitution ofmultivessal coronary disease was higher in the former.ObjectiveTo explore different alchohol consumption in patients with type II diabetesinfluence the risk of cardiovascular events.Methods311cases of patients with type2diabetes were divided into moderate drinkinggroup(158cases) and heavy drinking group(153cases).There were no differences ofsignificance between the two groups in the indicators of age, gender, fastingglucose, glycated hemoglobin, body mass index, blood lipids, liver function, kidneyfunction, etc. After one-year follow-up,the risk of suffering from cardiovascularevents (stable angina, unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction) was observed tosee whether there are differences in both groups of patients.ResultsAfter one year, the number of cases suffering cardiovascular events inmoderate drinking group was much less than the heavy drinking group. The resultswere statistically analysed in two groups,p<0.05showed that it was significant.ConclusionModerate drinking can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease than excessivedrinking in type2diabetes mellitus patients. These patients should strictly limit their alcohol comsumption in the daily care in order to reduce the incidence of thecomplications and mortality.
