The paper gives a brief analysis to some diseases caused by atherosclerosis, suchas myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and some universal treatment methods, specific guidance and evaluation methods required by different methods, anddeficiency in the current treatment methods. First there is a short explanation to theprocess of atherosclerosis, a definition of vulnerable plaque, and its constituents, theformation process, conditions, and reasons. A brief overview about vascular imagingtechnology is also given at this paper, imaging methods including magneticresonance imaging (MRI) in non-invasive model, computed tomography (CT), nearinfrared spectroscopic imaging (NIRS), single positron emission tomographyimaging (SPET) and ultrasound imaging and so on, X-ray angiography underinvasive vascular pattern, intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography(OCT), as well as a discussion about their advantages and disadvantages indiagnosing atherosclerosis. From this perspective, exploration about the currentresearch status of the endoscopic photo acoustic imaging is a target of this paper, andthe writer presents the design idea.Firstly, a detailed introduction about imaging theory is listed, including thesource of photo acoustic, photoacoustic equation and its solution, and thereconstruction of photoacoustic images. Then, a design target is put forward in theory, and parameters of every component set. There are details for all the main instrumentof the system and a specific description to the working principles is given too. At last, there is a detection to the resolution of the main parameters, as well as a comparisonwith the resolution of ultrasond image.A phantom is designed to demonstrate our ability in atherosclerosis diagnosis. The phantom is used to simulate the vessel with atherosclerosis, and the butter in thephantom presents the lipid laid in the artery, and imaging it with our system. Theresults indicate that the combined IVPA/IVUS can mark out the butter of thephantom. Then, imaging the human carotid artery and distinguish its lipid in plaquethrough spectropic imaging, and get the distribution of lipid in the artery by thehybird imaging method. This result greatly promotes the IVPA application andpositive effects on clinical.
