ObjectiveThis study is investigate the serum level of Sonic hedgehog protein and Indian hedgehog protein in patients with primary osteoporosis and non-osteopenia as well as different syndrome type of osteoporosisi discusses the relationship between Hedgehog signaling pathway and osteoporosis, aims to knowledge and understand the osteoporosis and different syndrome type of osteoporosis in essentially。Methodsselect86cases from Orthopedics hospital affiliated to guangzhou university of Chinese medicine in October2012to October2013, who fit the criteria, according to the result of the bone mineral density test, patients can be divided into osteoporosis group (60cases) and non-osteoporosis (26cases), according to the syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine, the osteoporosis patients are divided into the spleen kidney Yang deficiency syndrome group (23cases) and liver and kidney Yin deficiency syndrome group (37cases). Collect the peripheral blood, the Serum Level of Shh and Ihh Protein in patients were measured using Elisa, analyzing data of different groups by Statistical analysis method。Results1. Osteoporosis and non osteoporosis groups in age, weight, body mass index comparison, The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05), Osteoporosis group was large than non-osteopenia group in age, but was smaller than the non-osteopenia group in body weight and body mass index. Height difference between the two groups has no statistical significance (P>0.05).2. Average lumbar BMD was positively correlated with weight (r=0.477, p<0.05), body mass index (r=0.397, p<0.05) and was negatively related with age (r=-0.352, p<0.05).3. The differences of serum level of Shh and Ihh protein in between osteoporosis group and non-osteopenia group showed no significance.4. Shh and Ihh protein were not statistically significant between liver and kidney yin deficiency syndrome group and spleen and kidney yang deficiency syndrome group.Conclusion1. The abnormal expression of Hedgehog signal may be a relevant factor in the occurrence and development of osteoporosis。2. The serum Shh and Ihh protein had no obvious specificity in patients with primary osteoporosis.3. The expression of serum Shh and Ihh protein have no significant correlation with types of Traditional Chinese Medicine of osteoporosis.4. Serum Shh and Ihh protein had No significant correlation with TCM syndrome type of primary osteoporosis.
