The Research Of Correlation Between The Vergence Facility And The Disparity Vergence

ObjectiveBy investigating the correlation between the vergence facility and the disparity vergence when the participants were asked to test the binocular functions,and judged what effect the vergence adaptation act in this correlation. The purpose was to find a more convenient and significative index in differentiating patients with vergence system deficits.MethodsFifty college students(100eyes) with myopia were randomly selected in this study.For each subject, automatic refractor and phoropter were used to check the binocular vision, then vergence facility test, disparity vergence test and near disassociated phoria by Flashed Von Graefe method were successively measured. The date of the vergence adaptation was calculated at last.The data was analyzed by the t-test, variance analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis using SPSS13.0in order to investigate the correlation between the vergence facility and the disparity vergence and judge the vergence adaptation’s effect act in this correlation.Resultsl.We divided fifty subjects into two groups that depended on the value of near disassociated phoria:A group (>6△EXO) and B group (0-6△EXO). The the amplitude of vergence facility of A group was significantly different than B group (t=-0.552, P=0.033),the A group’s value of the recover points was also significantly different than B group(t=0.115,P=0.023; t=-0.146, P=0.031).2.There was a significant correlation between the value of recovery point and the amplitude of vergence facility(r=0.445, P=0.014). But the value of recovery points and the amplitude of vergence facility did not has a correlation.3.There were not statistically significant differences between the value of recovery points of the hypermyopia’s group and the myopia’s group(t=-0.521,P=0.610).Statistically significant differences were not found when comparing the amplitude of vergence facility by the two groups(t=-1.081, P=0.300).4.There were not statistically significant differences between the value of the vergence adaptation when participants finished the vergence facility test and the disparity vergence test(F=6.294, P=0.300).5.We divided fifty subjects into two groups that depended on whether he/she has passed vergence facility test:A group and B group. We found there were not statistically significant differences between the value of the vergence adaptation with A and B group (P=0.354).The result was same to the test of the disparity vergence test (P=0.482)ConclusionThe subject’s amplitude of recovery point can be taken most advantage, and we can use the subject’s amplitude of recovery point to infer whether he/she has a vergence deficit instead of two tests, the correlation has bring lots of convenience in daily clinical diagnosis.In the other hand, there were not statistically significant differences between the value of the vergence adaptation when participants finished the vergence facility test and the disparity vergence test,so the vergence adaptation was not contributed to the correlation between the vergence facility and the disparity vergence.
