Objective:To study the expression of CD138in normal cervical mucosal tissue, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CINI/II and CINIII) and cervical squamous cell carcinoma. And to discuss the clinical pathologic significance of CD138in cervical squamous cell carcinoma lymph node metastasis, microvascular distribution and clinical stage. Methods:To detected the expression of CD138in185cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma,65cases of CINIII,25cases of CIN I/II and36cases of normal cervical mucosa tissues. Results:The expression of CD138was lowest in cervical cancer tissue, followed by normal cervical mucosal tissue, and highest in CIN I/II and CINIII, the difference has significant meaning (P<0.001). The expression of CD138levels was higher in without lymph node metastasis group than in lymph node metastasis group (P<0.05). In cervical cancer, the expression of CD138was highest in stage0and I a, and lowest in stage II b (P<0.001). The expression of CD138was higher in microvascular distribution of low and medium, than in high distribution of cases. However, there was no statistical significance.Conclusion:CD138play an important role in the process of development of cervical squamous cell carcinoma, especially for the role of lymph node metastasis is more obvious. So, CD138could be used as a indicators for determinate the process of progress in cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
