Botulinum Toxin Type A Injection Guided By Ultrasound Combined With Electrical Stimulation In Poststroke Patients With Spasticity

Objectives: Observed ultrasound combined with electricalstimulation-guided injection of botulinum toxin type A for poststroke patientswith spasticity.Methods: Selected hospitalized patients after stroke with foot drop15cases,under regular exercise therapy, treatment of physical factors, such as thecomprehensive treatment of spasticity, improve foot drop, then guided byultrasound combined with electrical stimulation to the botulinum toxininjections, by evaluating the Modified Ashworth Scale; Ankle motionmeasurement; Holden functional ambulation classification; and10meterswalking pace; Simplified Fugl-Meyer motor function evaluation; ModifiedBathel Index at3days, weeks1,4post-treatment to observe the clinicalefficacies.Results:There were no significant statistical difference on MAS（t=1.47，P>0.05）at3days post-treatment，but compared the scores of MAS at weeks1,4（2.87±0.84VS2.20±0.68，1.86±0.83），there were significant statisticaldifference，P＜0.05.There were no significant statistical difference on ROM of ankle at3days post-treatment，but compared the scores of ROM at weeks1,4（1.11±0.27VS1.60±0.51，2.20±0.68），there were significant statisticaldifference，P＜0.05. Compared the scores of FAC（1.20±0.41VS1.47±0.52，1.73±0.46，2.00±0.65）；10meter walking speed（31.38±1.62VS32.84±1.86，36.52±2.20，39.95±1.90）；FMA（7.93±1.39VS8.47±1.41，13.00±1.69，18.60±2.67）；MBI（26.8±4.95VS31.4±4.94，41.13±4.39，61.57±5.55） at3days and weeks1，4，there were significant statistical difference betweenpre-treatment and post-treatment，P＜0.05.Conclusion: Botulinum toxin type A injection guided by ultrasoundcombined with electrical stimulation can effectively relieve spasticity inpatients poststroke, correct foot drop and strephenopodia, improve patients’ability of daily life.
