Objective To investigate the efficacy of Sextent percutaneous pedicle screwsystem and domestic UPASS Ⅱ pedicle screw system in treatment of unstablethoracolumbar fractures. Methods The clinical data of47patients with single segmentlumbar unstable fractures were selected.38patients were fixed by percutaneous UPASSⅡ pedicle screw system (UPASS Ⅱ group) and9patients were fixed by Sextentpercutaneous pedicle screw system (Sextent group); The vertebral, surgical cases andthe therapeutic effect of two groups were compared. Results All patients were followedup, the leading edge of vertebral height and kyphosis Cobb angle in2weeks,6monthsafter treatment were less than before, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), but the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant;operative time of UPASS Ⅱ group was shorter than Sextent group, the differences werestatistically significant (P=0.002). Blood loss, hospital stay and ambulation time oftwo groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion The effect of Sextentpercutaneous pedicle screw system and domestic UPASS Ⅱ pedicle screw system intreatment of unstable thoracolumbar fractures is similar, but the UPASS Ⅱ system hasshorter operative time and lower cost, so it is more suitable for primary applications.
