| Objective: To explore the correlation between anterior talofibular ligament injury andthe T2value of talus trochlear cartilage, providing basis for the prevention of traumatic.Materials and methods:1. Case data:42patients who had ankle trauma were collected to accept MR scanningfrom March2013to March2014, including23males and19females(aged21-51years,mean age39years).2. MR scanning and image post-processing: MRI was performed using a GE Signa3.0T machine. The scanning sequences included: Fast spin echo T1-weightedimaging(FSE-T1WI), fat-suppressed fast spin echo T2-weighted imaging(FS-FSE-T2WI),fat-suppressed fast spin echo proton density weighted imaging(FS-FSE-PDWI) and T2mapping. The original image of T2mapping was reconstructed into pseudo color imagein GE ADW4.3workstation. After adjusting the threshold, normal talus trochlearcartilage showed uniform bule color and the joint effusion gray levels.3. Image evaluation: According to FS-FSE-T2WI and FS-FSE-PDWI, the status ofanterior talofibular ligament was classificated into three degrees: normal, partial tear, complete tear. Talus trochlear cartilage was divided into six compartments: lateralanterior, lateral center, lateral posterior, medial anterior, medial center, and medialposterior. The T2value of each part of talus trochlear cartilage was measured in the T2mapping pseudo color image. The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage wascalculated from all of the compartments. 4. Observation index:1. The cases and degrees of anterior talofibular ligament injury showed inFS-FSE-T2WI and FS-FSE-PDWI.2. The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage.3. The T2value of the six compartments of talus trochlear cartilage.5. Statistical analysis:1. The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage and the T2value of each part betweenthe normal, partial tear, complete tear groups was evaluated by using Kruskal-Wallistest.2. The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage and the T2value of each part betweenthe normal and partial tear groups, the normal and complete tear groups, the partial andcomplete tear groups was evaluated by using Tukey-Kramer test.Results:1. A total of42cases, including19normal anterior talofibular ligaments,17partial tearones,6complete tear ones.2.(1) The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage in the normal, partial tear, complete tear groups was39.247±1.950ms,42.584±1.427ms,45.234±1.921ms, itshowed significant differences between the three groups(p<0.05).(2) The T2value of the medial anterior part of talus trochlear cartilage in the normal, partial tear, complete tear groups was37.661±1.967ms,40.876±2.716ms,41.855±1.103ms, it showed significant differences between the three groups(p<0.05);The T2value of the lateral anterior part of talus trochlear cartilage in the normal, partialtear, complete tear groups was35.516±2.233ms,38.328±2.366ms,42.400±2.678ms, itshowed significant differences between the three groups(p<0.05); The T2value of thelateral center part of talus trochlear cartilage in the normal, partial tear, complete teargroups was38.579±2.306ms,40.977±1.336ms,46.265±4.805ms, it showed significantdifferences between the three groups(p<0.05).3.(1) The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage was39.247±1.950ms and42.584±1.427ms in the normal and partial tear groups, it showed significant differencesbetween the two groups(p<0.05); The mean T2values of talus trochlear cartilage was 39.247±1.950ms and45.234±1.921ms in the normal and complete tear groups, itshowed significant differences between the two groups(p<0.05); The mean T2valuesof talus trochlear cartilage was42.584±1.427ms and45.234±1.921ms in the partial andcomplete tear groups, it showed significant differences between the two groups(p<0.05).(2) The T2value of the medial anterior part of talus trochlear cartilage showedsignificant differences between partial tear, complete tear and normal groups(p<0.05);The T2value of the lateral anterior part of talus trochlear cartilage showed significantdifferences between partial tear, complete tear and normal groups(p<0.05); The T2value of the lateral center part of talus trochlear cartilage showed significant differencesbetween complete tear and normal, partial tear groups(p<0.05).Conclusions: With the anterior talofibular ligament injury degree aggravated, the T2value of talus trochelear cartilage increased, espetially the medial anterior, lateralanterior and lateral center compartments. |
