Objective:To explore factors affecting the survival in patients after resection ofthymoma, analyse the dose and evaluate the effect of radiotherapy postoperation, toprovide a valuable reference for selecting comprehensive treatments after surgery. Methods:Clinicopathological data of65thymoma patients who underwentresection at First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from December2004to September2011were collected and reviewed in this study. All patients had no cancerhistory, and did not receive neoadjuvant radiotherapy or chemotherapy, had Karnofskyperformance scores》70,and had the integrated clinicopathological data, male patients35cases,female30cases,age between16and76years old,31patients with Masokastage II,31patients with stage III,3patients with Masoka stage IV,Postoperativepathological types WHO is A model of8cases of patients,21patients with type AB, B1type of9cases of patients,9patients with B2type, B3type of8cases of patients,9patients with thymic carcinoma,1case of thymic carcinoid patients;65cases ofthymoma patients accepted radiotherapy, the deadline for follow-up on September7,2011, the median follow-up time of70months. Choice of survival prognosis may haveaffected the clinical and pathological data of single factor and multiple factors analysisof postoperative radiotherapy. Using SPSS17.0software for statistical analysis. Singlefactor survival analysis application of Kaplan Meier-test and the Log rank test, theimpact on the survival and prognostic factors were statistically analyzed, multi-factoranalysis using Cox regression analysis, to determine whether as independent factors affecting the prognosis.: difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).Results:1、Follow-up: the last follow-up time is on September7,2011, the medianfollow-up period of70months, follow-up rate was95%.2、The survival situation: full set of3,5year overall survival of95%,85%respectively. II, III, IV total3years survival rate were100%,97%,93%, total5yearssurvival rates were100%,87%and81%respectively. Still living disease-free survivalin55patients,46cases intrathoracic survival with tumor in4cases, distant metastasis, but living in5cases.3、Local control: the whole set of3years,5years local control rates were95%,89%respectively.9cases in65cases of patients with recurrence, III and IV respectively78%、22%.4、Treatment failure reason: by the end of the last follow-up10cases of death, ofwhich3cases died of local not control, distant metastasis,4cases, local control anddistant metastases2cases, other factors tumor1case. Local control30%of the deaths, distant metastasis accounted for40%of deaths, follow-up (including dead and not dead)found a total of9cases, bone transfer parts of1case,4cases of lung, pleura in4cases.5、Prognostic factors analysis results: factor analysis showed that Masaoka staging, surgical removal of the integrity, age is the independent factors influencing theprognosis of patients.Conclusion:1. Thymoma3years,5years of survival rate is higher, prognosis is good.2. Surgical treatment is still the main treatment, postoperative radiotherapy asadjuvant therapy could reduce the local recurrence.3. The surgical removal of the integrity, Masaoka stage were independent factorsaffecting the prognosis, the WHO classification is one of the important factors affectprognosis.4. Whether the age for further study on the independent prognostic factors remainsto be proved.
