Objective Synthesized new durg-metal complex modifying polyoxometalatescompounds, and all these compounds have been structurally characterized. The antitumoractivities of new compounds in-vitro are studied. Methods All compounds have been synthesized on the basis of hydrothermaltechnique methods and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffractions, X-raypower diffractions, elemental analyses, TG-DTA and IR. The antitumor activities in vitrowere studied by MTT experiments.(The cancer cells are SG7901gastric cancer cell lines,SMMC7721hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines). Results Four new durg-metal complex modifying polyoxometalates compounds havebeen synthesized. The results of the anti-tumor activity in vitro showed that the differentstructures of the complexes exhibited different anti-tumor activity and selectivity on tumorcells. Conclusion In this paper, compounds based on polyoxometalates and transition metalions as bridging ions and quinolones drugs as organic ligands have been synthesized andcharacterized:[Cu2(Enro)3H2O][SiW12O40]·H2O (1);{[Cu(Norf)2]}2[SiW12O40](2);H2[Ni(Enro)2][SiW12O40]·(Enro)2·2H2O (3);H4[Ni(Enro)2(H2O)2](β-Mo8O26) H2O (4).The antitumor activities of compounds1-4in vitro were studied by MTT experiments, and the results show that the Keggin H4SiW12O40parent compound exhibits no anti-SGC7901and anti-SMMC7721. By modifying by metal drug complexes, we found that Cu-quinolone complexes have slightly effect on the antitumor activity of POMs but Ni-quinolone complexes have distinctly effect on the antitumor activity of POMs, which showsthat metal ions play a key role in the electron transference between POMs and metalcomplexes. The same results are also observed in compound4.
