Objective: To study the acute-phase response biomakers and coagulation/fibrinolysisin the pathogenesis of chronic urticarial(CU) by investigating the concentration ofInterleukin-6(IL-6), High sensitive C-reactive protein(Hs-CRP), Serum amyloidA(SAA) and plasma D-dimer in CU patients and evaluate the relationship betweenthese biomarkers and disease severity in CU.Methods: IL-6, Hs-CRP, SAA and plasma D-dimer were measured with theassessment of disease severity in53patients with chronic urticarial and25healthysubjects.Results: In the CU patients and the healthy subjects, the concentration of IL-6was10.70±4.94pg/ml and7.49±3.41pg/ml, respectively, the concentration of SAA,[4.92(8.22,12.51) ng/ml] and [2.11(1.21,2.83) ng/ml], respectively, the concentrations ofD-dimer,(222.32±163.69ng/ml) and (104.72±43.12ng/ml), respectively, theconcentrations of Hs-CRP,[0.30(0.10,1.40) mg/l] and [0.30(0.10,0.55) mg/l], theconcentrations of IL-6, SAA and plasma D-dimer were significantly increased in CUpatients compared with healthy subjects (P<0.05), but not the concentration ofHs-CRP (P>0.05). There were a correlation between level of Hs-CRP and SAA(r=0.67, P<0.001), Hs-CRP and D-dimer (r=0.49, P<0.001), SAA and D-dimer(r=0.38, P<0.01), and the concentration of Hs-CRP, SAA and D-dimer were significantly correlated with the CU disease severity (r=0.63, P<0.001; r=0.62, P<0.001; r=0.47, P<0.001), but not the concentration of IL-6(P>0.05).Conclusions: There is a correlation with APR and the activation of the coagulationsystem in CU patients.
