Objective:To study the role of NF-κβand RAGE in the pathogensis of middle earcholesteatoma.Methods:23middle ear cholesteatoma and18normal external ear canal skin werecollected in middle ear surgery. The expression of NF-κβand RAGE wasexamined by immunohistochemistry. Results:All epithelial cell of cholesteatoma revealed a abundant plasmaexpression of NF-κβand RAGE. The level of the expression of NF-κβ inthe epithelium of middle ear cholesteatoma tissues was significantlyhigher than the normal skin tissues as0.442±0.060and0.293±0.047(t=8.654,p<0.01). The expression of RAGE in the epithelium of middleear cholesteatoma tissues was also significantly higher than the normalskin tissues as0.175±0.017and0.133±0.013(t=8.516,p<0.01).Therewas a weak correlation between expression of NF-κβand RAGE in theepithelium of middle ear cholesteatoma tissues(r=0.546,p=0.034).Conclusion:NF-κβand RAGE may be important factors which were involved in the occurrence and development of middle ear cholesteatom. The signal pathwayof RAGE and NF-κβmay be a new drug target in treatment middle earcholesteatoma without surgery. |
