Objective: Preliminary discussion on the body of the chronic hypoxiacondition’s influence on the prognosis of primary liver cancer(PLC) and theHIF expression.Methods:86patients with PLC from The second hospital affiliated to fujianmedical university were in enrolled in this study. This was a retrospectivereview, analysing the clinical characterstics and prognosis.The expression ofHIF-1α and CD105protein in cancer tissue of86cases was examined byimmunohistochemical. The age, gender, HIF-1α, MVD,AFP,Hb, tumor staging,cirrhosis, hepatitis b and other variables were evaluated for their impact onand overall survival by the Kaplan-Meier method.Results: The median overall survival (OS) of these86patients was50.6months (range:6-84months).There were44survival,42dead.There were28cases of HIF-1α negative expression,35of positive expression and23ofstrong positive expression.The MVD was45.95±16.2and54.3±17.8inpatients with and without body hypoxia, respectively(P<0.05). There were nosignificant differences in the age, gender, HIF-1α, MVD,AFP,Hb, tumor staging,cirrhosis, hepatitis b and other variables between these two groups(P>0.05).The hemoglobin level was a significant variable for overall and diseasespecificsurvival,respectively(P<0.05).In addition,the patients who got higherHIF expression had lower median survival,respectively(P<0.05).As a result ofthe analysis,the body hypoxia,HIF,MVD,Hb,and tumor stage were prognosticvariables for progression to PLC independently(P<0.05).There were positivelycorrelation between disease and survival time in the variables of the bodyhypoxia,HIF,MVD, tumor stage,and negatively correlation in the Hb variable.Conclusion:The patients in the condition of hypoxia got poor prognosis. Thebody hypoxia,HIF,MVD,Hb,and tumor stage were independent predictive factors for OS.They were all correlate to the survival time,while the Hb wasnegatively correlated.
