Objective To evaluate the incidence and risk factors of pulmonary embolism inpatients with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, to further improve theunderstanding of pulmonary embolism and clinical intervention. Methods To continuously collect215patients with deep venous thrombosis fromMay2012to April2013in Fujian provincial hospital, these patients suffered fromlower extremity edema were admitted to the hospital. According to the double lowerlimb deep vein combined with dual pulmonary artery angiography, the diagnosis ofpulmonary embolism patients were included in the study group, no pulmonaryembolism patients were enrolled in the control group. Risk factors of venousthromboembolism were collected in these two groups, such as: The lesion site of deepvein thrombosis, Age, Gender, Tumor, hyperlipidemia, Trauma and surgery within thelast12months, History of venous thromboembolism, History of smoking, and othermedical-related diseases. using logistic regression to analyze risk factors for lowerextremity deep vein thrombosis lead to pulmonary embolism. Results Of215cases with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis,104cases hadpulmonary embolism (48.4%). In risk factors, right lower extremity deep veinthrombosis(OR=3.203), history of the deep vein thrombosis of lowerlimbs(OR=2.510), Trauma and surgery within the last12months(OR=4.482),diabetes(OR=3.431), cerebral infarction(OR=3.972)in the PE group weresignificantly higher than those in the non-PE group(p<0.05).Conclusion Right lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, history of the deep veinthrombosis of lower limbs, Trauma and surgery within the last12months, diabetes, cerebral infarction may be the independent risk factors for PE.
