Objective: To investigate the etiology of chronic cough and chronic cough causes ofchanges in the frequency distribution of the different seasons of the year..Method: We collect91patients with chronic cough in Affiliated Hospital of Yan’anUniversity in March2012to February2013for diagnosis and treatment of respiratorymedicine. All patients were meet: cough time after8weeks and the symptoms of coughas the main or the only; chest X-ray examination showed no abnormalities; older than13years old; non-smokers. And exclusion: pregnancy or lactating women; presence has aclear cause of chronic cough, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease history of disease, tuberculosis, pneumonia, etc.; with severe heart, liver and kidney dysfunction. Todiagnose the causes of chronic cough through the Chinese Medical Association ofRespiratory Diseases, Asthma study group designating "cough diagnosis and treatmentguidelines (2009version)" diagnostic process of chronic cough as a guide, combinedwith the actual situation of our hospital to diagnose the91patients with chronic cough, and do specific treatment for the cause. Establish the cause of chronic cough in patientsafter treatment according to the season into the spring (3~5months), summer (6~8months), autumn (9~11months), Winter (12~2months)4group, analyze and comparethe seasonal differences in the distribution of chronic cough causes frequency in eachseason. Results: In this study, comply with the inclusion and exclusion cases, be able tocooperate to complete the chronic cough etiology diagnostic procedures, and91patientswith complete data,41cases were male,50cases were female, age16to69years old, theaverage age was (4012)years old. The cough median duration of6(2~120months). Eventually be able to determine the cause of the diagnosis in87cases (95.6%), amongthe clear cause persons, single cause78cases (89.7%),7cases of double etiology (8.0%),triple etiology2cases (3.3%),4patients of unknown etiology (4.4%), Including complexetiology, a total of102cases of chronic cough causes, the most common reason forchronic cough are: airway cough syndrome above (UACS, also known as post nasal dripsyndrome, PNDS), cough variant asthma (CVA), after infection cough (PIC),eosinophilic bronchitis (EB). In March2012to February2013the distribution of causesof chronic cough UACS most common in winter, followed by spring, fall below thespring, summer distribution lowest frequency (2=9.302, P=0.026); CVA most commonin spring, followed by autumn, summer and winter no difference (2=8.206, P=0.042),UACS and CVA exist seasonal differences (P<0.05). Other causes no significantseasonal distribution of frequency differences.Conclusion:1. The causes of chronic cough is various complicated, and involvewide, UACS, CVA, PIC, EB, ACEI drugs induced cough is the main causes of chroniccough, the above causes (including single and compound cause) accounted for85.3%oftotal cause of chronic cough.2. In March2012to February2013, Yan’ an UniversityAffiliated Hospital respiratory medicine for treatment of102cases of chronic cough, thefrequency distribution of UACS and CVA varies with the seasons, to understand thisvariation may be helpful in diagnosis and prevention and cure chronic cough.
