【Objective】To study the correlation between HPV genotypes and residual/recurrentlesions of CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ post-treatment. HPV genotypes, multiple and persistent HPVinfection were evaluated as possible predictors for the prognosis of residual/recurrentlesions in patients with CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ afterLEEP treatment.【Methods】A total of429women were enrolled and processed for the “CervicalProject of Three-step Programmed Screening” and HPV-DNA detection, amongwhom382cases with pathological confirmation of CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ were treated by LEEPconization and were regularly followed up for two years. Cervical cells were collectedfrom these patients for analysis of genotypes, colposcopy and TCT before and1,6,12and24months after treatment, respectively. Correlations between HPV genotypes andmultiple and persistent HPV infection were evaluated.【Results】1.Twenty out of382patients were not infected by HPV with a total infection rate of94.76%.2.The average number of sexual partners, gravidities and smokers in the patients withresidual/recurrent disease were statistically greater than in those without residual/recurrent disease.3.The residual/recurrent rate was rising with increase of the age in the patients withnegative margins or implicated margins.4. Preoperative infection with HPV-16,-18,-33or-52was associated with higherrates of residual/recurrent lesions in the patients with negative margins or implicatedmargins. Preoperative infection with HPV-31,-35,-45or-58was independent ofresidual/recurrent lesions in the patients with negative margins, and HPV-31,-35,-58or-51infection was not associated with implicated margins, either.5.Multiple and persistent HR-HPV infections in the patients with CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ wereassociated with higher rates of residual/recurrent lesions than in those with single HR-HPV infection.【Conclusions】1.Residual/recurrent lesions in patients with CIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ treated by LEEP conizationwere associated with the age, involved margin, sexual partner number, gravidity andsmoking.2.Residual/recurrent rate was rising with the increase of age in the patients withCIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ treated by LEEP conization.3.Preoperative infection with HPV-16,-18,-33or-52was significantly associatedwith reoccurrence of residual/recurrent lesions.4.Multiple and persistent HR-HPV infections in the pre-treated patients withCIN Ⅱ/Ⅲ were associated with an obviously higher incidence rate of residual/recurrent lesions.
