Objective:to predict the feasibility of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)through studying multivariate analysis about extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy treatmentresidual stones. By the study, we can help the medical staff make a decision whether thepatients with residual stones need a secondary surgery, to avoid the unnecessary harm andlosses of physical and economic.Methods:127cases with residual stones after PCNL who want to treatment in theurology department of affiliated Hospital of Hebei University during October2010to May2011were randomly selected. Determining patients to comply with the selection andexclusion criteria and other tests. The patients’ age range from21to62years old(average35.35±8.27).Residual skin-to-stone distance,Hounsfield units, body mass index,TNFα, andother indicators were statistically analysed. All patients according to specific requirementscan be repeatedly selected. Results:There was no significant correlation between patient age, β2-MG, systolic bloodpressure (P>0.05). The Hounsfield units, diameter of stone, blood glucose, body mass indexand skin-to-stone distance are important prognostic factors (P <0.05). Hounsfield units, diameter of stone, blood glucose, TNFα, body mass index and skin-to-stone distance areimpact factors using Logistic regression analysis after single factor analysed statisticallysignificant. The blood glucose, TNFα are unable to enter the regression model. Conclusions:Hounsfield units, diameter of stone, body mass index and skin-to-stonedistance could be used as simple but important indicators to predict the value and reduce theblindness and complications of ESWL treatI the residual stones after PCNL.
