Due to the strict control of microorganisms and the limits of feeding conditions about specific pathogen-free(SPF) cavia procellus, the de-greening fodder with full nutrition which is easy to operate and easy to be sterile is needed for standardized and large-scale production and breeding. In this study, we researched the additive amount of VC in the de-greening fordder and the effect of irradiated fodder which used in feeding SPF cavia procellus. The results of three experiments were as follows:1. Taking the conventional cavia procellus as the object, we selected VC coated by ethyl cellulose and VC crystals as the main source of vitamin VC for cavia procellus,de-greening fodder and we tested the feasibility. The result showed that de-greening fodder of VC coated by ethyl cellulose and VC crystals could basically meet the needs of the growth and reproduction of cavia procellus, and the effect of VC coated by ethyl cellulose was better than VC crystals. Therefore, it’s feasible to take VC coated by ethyl cellulose as the main source of VC using in the de-greening fodder for cavia procellus.2. Taking the SPF cavia procellus as the object, we optimized the additive volume of VC coated by ethyl cellulose from 500mg/kg, 1000mg/kg and 1500mg/kg. The results showed that: when the additive volume of VC coated by ethyl cellulose was1000mg/kg and1500mg/kg, the results were benefit for the growth, reproduction and multiple births of SPF cavia procellus compared with 500mg/kg. There was no significant difference between 1500mg/kg and 1000mg/kg in the growth and reproduction index. And combining fodder cost, the most optimal additive amount of VC coated by ethyl cellulose was 1000mg/kg.3. Using two kinds of fodder to feed SPF and CV cavia procellus respectively, we compare the main visecera weight and coefficient to determine the suitability of SPF cavia procellus,fodder.4. The de-greening fodder must be irradiated and made sure sterilized before feeding to the SPF cavia procellus. We compared the prowth, reproduction and multiple births of the SPF cavia procellus which be fed the fodder with 15 k Gy, 30 k Gy and45 k Gy dose of irradiation sterilization. The results showed that the fodder with 15 k Gy dose appeared growth of bacteria in the late stage, and shelf life was not long enough. The shelf life was long with 30 k Gy dose, the growth and reproduction conditions of the SPF cavia procellus were more stable after feeding this kind of fodder. The fodder with45 k Gy dose had a bad smell. The SPF cavia procellus fed poor. The growth and reproduction indexes showed different and instable. So it was initially determined that30 k Gy was the best dose of irradiation sterilization for the SPF cavia procellus, and the shelf life was as long as 8 months.5. Through the analysis of the index of the SPF cavia procellus which be fed fodder including different amount of VC and different dose of irradiation, we found that there was the interaction between them. The irradiation took the function on de-greening fodder, at the same time, the irradiation could change VC coated by ethyl cellulose, and then it influenced the growth and reproduction of SPF cavia procellus.
