Agriculture mechanization is the direction of agriculture. With the development of agriculture mechanization, combine harvester, which is an important agriculture machinery, requirement are developing and changing. With the combine harvester is continuous to be efficient, large-scale, intelligent, header is also needed to be efficient and intelligent. In many cases, the traditional header may have some fault, but the fault can’t be found. So, we need to analysis the demand of header and optimize the design of header.In this article, we design and innovate the header mainly in four steps. The first part is the concept of the design. I introduce the traditional header’s main function and structure analysis. On the basis of this analysis, I complete the design of new header’s conceptual design, which provide guidance for whole design. The second part is the overall scheme of the control system design.. The third part is the detail design of header’s control system design. In this part, header’s control system is divided into two parts, which are hardware circuit design and software design. Hardware circuit consist of chip microcomputer minimum system, data acquisition module circuit, serial communication module circuit, human-computer interaction module circuit, automatic control and alarm module circuit, the clock circuit. Software design is mainly based on hardware circuit diagram. Using the KeilC software to write the program, then lead the program to Proteus software. Use the Proteus to complete the program simulation, until the simulation program can achieve expected effect. The fourth part is improved design. In this part, in order to make the header’s control system work stability and reliability, I use FMEA to analysis the header’s control system. By using of FMEA I get the possible failure of header’s control system, then on the basis of this put forward the improved measures and methods for header’s control system.With the development of technology and user’s needs, continuous improvement design and innovation of header is very significant. I believe that the development of header will make good sense for combine harvester.
