With the improvement of people’s material life social level, while China is also facing enormous pressure on natural resources, and how the limited resources more effectively, many researchers are in their own way with the effort. Found from a large number of literature, many researchers only for the wood surface visible structural defects were detected, not inside the timber defect information is detected, and this article will be three-dimensional digital structured light scanning technology with three-dimensional tomography two kinds of data acquisition ways of combining, from a new angle on the wood surface and internal defects were studied.Study on three-dimensional scanning technology, wood-based defect detection is the wood surface and internal defects to reproduce three-dimensional, the establishment of a virtual three-dimensional model. Data acquisition is the wood surface wood surface structure model with a structured light scanning technology to capture point cloud data, and then filtered point cloud data, and then use triangulation intersection algorithm to process data to obtain. Due to the characteristics of structured light surface sweep technology, three-dimensional data can be obtained only wood surface defect data can not get inside the timber, it is necessary to use three tomography, CT scan of the timber, to obtain each tomographic slice data, then use the filtering and binarization algorithm for data processing, image data obtained were then superimposed using the Marching cube algorithm wood surface defects get drawn inside wood defect model, the three-dimensional model of the wood surface defects and internal defects models defect data overlay combination, can completely get wood. Two modeling methods are specific parameters can be measured, can achieve the purpose of calculation and analysis.Through the study of three-dimensional scanning technology to detect defects on the wood to give the wood defect data model, through the calculation model analysis, physical data are available in real wood-perimeter, area, volume, etc., and may calculate the internal defects of wood data and defect level. From which it can be concluded, based on 3D scanning technology wood defect detection may reflect the resultant real wood defect information, this technology can be applied to practice, than traditional techniques only by wood visible defect analysis more accurate and can on wood internal defect data analysis and calculation and estimation of the extent of the defect. Utilization of wood can be greatly improved by the data analysis model, expect to eventually provide the basis for China’s timber production.
