The swimming ability and migration characteristics of fish are unique nature of the fish, as well as the source of migration power of the fish. But the research on the swimming ability and the migration characteristic of the fish developed by our country is relative late by and the relevant data of this field is also insufficientat present. However, the currently construction situation of the water conservancy of China indicates that we need more data to guide and support the scientific design of fishway. That leads to the gap between the theories and the application. Therefore, in order to make the fishways achieve the purpose of its original design, to allow the fish migrating successfully through the fishway and to provide relevant basis for the research of the river water ecosystem and the ecological environment protection of the reservoir. It is very important to study the swimming ability and the migration characteristics of fish.The necessary scientific basis for the study of effect evaluation of the fishway design and operation and behavior habits of fish in reservoir provided according to the study of the migration characteristics of individual fish under different hydraulic conditions based on the background of the research. The main works are as follow:(1) Acoustic Tag Tracking System from the HTI company of USA is introduced to study for the characteristic of fish’s migration under different hydraulic conditions.(2) According to the different hydrodynamic conditions, the water tank model was set up to simulate the water ecological environment. After the water tank model was constructed and transformed, we used it to carry on the research of the monitoring of the behavior of fish in the static and dynamic water.(3) We use MarkTags software, AcousticTag software and the Origin software to obtain the real-time monitoring of the original data and analyze related processing in the experiment.Based on the static characteristic condition experiment water fish three-dimensional coordinate and the 3d trajectory graph analysis, the study found dissolved oxygen and temperature are the important factors for the fish activity. Furthermore, in spatial extent, relative to the whole basin ecological environment, the fish main activated at the bottom of the transverse range in the middle of flume and vertical range of water and better water ecological environment of these areas, the growth of aquatic plants flourish.Through the experiment of dynamic water condition, the study found crucian carp in the condition of dynamic water prefer to swim in the upstream of the water, the whole trajectory substantially present overall progress in the XY plane projection, in the direction of flow with the increase of flow rate the distance from the edge of the sink was increasing. when the flow increased to 50L/s, the carp was washed to downstream. with the further increase in flow, the more difficult carp swim upstream. In the vertically scope of the sink, the fish activated at the bottom of the sink, which had the same range with its vertical activity under hydrostatic state.
