The purpose of this study was to find the molecular markers related with reproduction and milk production traits in two populations consisting dairy cow and water buffalo. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) on three gene, including FBXL13, ARID4B, and LOC518224 that have beed identified as association with reproduction traits in dairy cows by BovineSNP50 BeadChip in Chinese and British population of dairy cow in previous in this laboratory were again evaluated with reproduction and milk production trait in another population of dairy cow and water buffalo population. The result of this study showed that with AG and GG genotypes in FBXL13 candidate gene had higher level of reproduction traits. For ARID4b candidate gene, the cows with AA genotype had high reproduction trait, while cows with GG genotype produced more milk. The TC genotype of LOC518224 candidate gene had a good combined effects on both of reproduction and milk production traits, and cows with TT genotype obtained better reproduction traits.Three SNPs from three candidate gene in cows were polymorphic, whereas in bufalo were monomorphic, and so the association analysis could not been performed in water buffalo. All SNPs from three candidate gene on dairy cows were in Hardy-Weinburg disequilibrium. The mutations of three genes results in significant changes of milk and reproduction traits in dairy cows. Further studies need to confirm the results in this study.
