This study collected Pinellia ternata oliver germplasm resources from 11 regions of 8 provinces.To select the best P.ternata germplasm from different introduction origins and provide suggestion for the introduction of P.ternata to Gansu province,botanical traits, agronomic traits and the active ingredient content were comprehensively compared;To provide guidance for cultivation and management of P.ternata in Qingshui county,we studied the influences of tuber degradation and shading on the yield and quality. The main conclusions are as follows:1.There were correlations between sprout tumble rate with plantheight and stem diameter, as well as with leaf area and aspect ratio of leaf;Leaf area shows the largest positive correlation with sprout tumble rate, and the correlation coefficient reaches at 0.548. in other words,the greater leaf area is,the higher sprout tumble rate is; Stem diameter shows the second largest positive correlation with sprout tumble rate with correlation coefficient of-0.212, i.e., the thinner stems is, the higher sprout tumble rate is;.The correlation coefficient of Plant height, aspect ratio of leaf and sprout tumble rate are0.117 and-0.071.In conclusion,P.ternata with small leaf area, thicker stems present small probability of sprout tumble.Contrary to previous research of Yang Xiaoyang,our research showed that the correlation between leaf shape and aspect ratiois low and negative.2.Ingredients contents of P.ternata from different places are in line with the 2015 edition of "People’s Republic of China Pharmacopoeia" requirement, indicating environmental factors in Qingshui county are suitable for the growth and composition accumulation of Pinellia ternata, and this regioncan serve as an important production base for P.ternata.3.HPLC charts of P.ternata from different places were drawn, and similarities were calculated and cluster analysis was conducted.The results showed that: the highest similarity was between Gansu Cheng county and Guizhou Qiannan,0.9668 and 0.9644, respectively, they were also clustered together; Shandong Heze and Hebei Shenze presented lowest similarity, 0.7194 and 0.7282, respectively, also clustered into the same category.We concluded that the former possessed the best performance of chemical composition, and Pinellia ternata in Shandong Heze and Hebei Shenze had the worst quality, corresponding with the comprehensive evaluation results above.4.We calculated the relevancy of growth indicators, agronomic traits and active ingredient content of from different regions and Pinellia ternata control lines through gray correlation method,and based on the importance we gave them different weights to complete the evaluation of Pinellia ternata resources from 11 production areas in eight provinces. The results showed that: the weighted correlation coefficients of Gansu Kang County, Henan Lushiand Guizhou Qiannanwere highest and closest with control lines, and they are excellent germplasm resources, while Pinellia ternata in Shandong Heze and Hebei Shenze had worst overall performance, and so we recommend cautious use.5.There are differences between introduced Pinellia ternata lines and the second generation lines in yields and active ingredients, but all of them are qualified lines according to the China Pharmaceutical. According to the paired T-test, except the content of organic acid,differences of the yield and active ingredient content are not significant. We concluded that the harvested tuber of Pinellia ternata introduced to Gansu can be used to cultivate in the second year.6.We investigated the yields andactive ingredients contents of Pinellia ternata under different shading treatment and compared them with control group with no shade.The results show that although the two have some differences,Pinelliaafter the shading process meets the relevant provisions of the 2015 version of the "People’s Republic of China Pharmacopoeia", and they are eligible commodities. In addition, Pinellia ternata under 40% shade, shade net height of 0.5 m was detected to obtain maximum yield, proper shading process also conducive to the accumulation Pinellia ternata alkaloids, and appropriate shading are conducive to the accumulation of alkaloids, proteins and polysaccharides, thereby increasing Pinellia medicinal effects.
