Investigation Of Preweaning Piglets Mortality On A Commercial Pig Farm In Hunan

Preweaning mortality is one of the factors affecting the piglets’ mortality of the pig production. Due to a variety of tissues and organs of piglets development is n ot perfect, easily influenced by environmental, resulting the preweaning piglets in si ck and died, bring huge economic losses to the pig production. Given preweaning piglets death brought serious dangers, study and analyze the cause of death preweani ng, and then find the method lower mortality, which has special significance to re duce economic losses herd.In this paper,investigation of preweaning mortality on a commercial pig farm in Hunan province in 2014. The results showed that the overall preweaning mortalit y 20.79% in whole year. The death of low ability of preweaning mortality is 18.4 1% in this year,the death of abnormal is 4.03%,the death of management is 2.22% disease deaths is 75.33%. It also concluded that preweaning piglet mortality will i ncrease over time and gradually reduced.To statistics by month, the number of deaths preweaning was not significantly d ifferent (P>0.05) between April and November, and other months were significantly different (P＜0.05); The number of deaths of preweaning of November were significa ntly different (P<0.05) among January to March、September and December.and the and other months was not significantly different (P>0.05). November was not signifi cant between the rest of the other months (P>0.05).To statistics we can find the pre weaning mortality is also high on July、August and October. And preweaning death is concentrated in April and November, accounting for 40.74%Statistics of sow parity,3 parity between 7 and 8 parity difference significantl y (P＜0.05), and the parity was not significant (P>0.05) with the other parity. Piglets preweaning mortality decreased with increasing parity of sows.And parity of sow ar e concentrated in 5 and 6 tires,occupy 42.18%,sows aging relatively serious.The results show that the pig industry infected with TEG, which may be the m ain factors leading to its high mortality rate.Other of the preweaning mortality factor s affect mainly management, birth weight, ambient temperature, parity of sow, staff quality and so on. But the impact of the death of piglets preweaning requires furth er study.
