With the development of soil taxonomy and information science, soil classification and soil geographic information system had an opportunity.Soil science shows its importance in developing soil resource and management and decision-making of protecting soil resource. The theory of soil taxonomy of our country is becoming more and more mature, while it is improving constantly.For studying the distribution of alfisol and ferrisol in Hubei and Jiangxi province, this research chooses classification indicators, combing land use forms, genetic classification system to discuss the boundary of the two soil orders. Contrasting China soil taxonomy searching(the third edition) to give a verification and correction of the current classification standard.This study takes Hubei and Jiangxi province as investigation area, through studying the classification standard of ferrisol, collecting other research data of soil survey, extracting physical and chemical properties of related soil profile and their corresponding climate and parent material, to give a rationality evaluation of the boundary between alfisol and ferrisol,and propose a new classification standard based on the analysis of the result.The main results and conclusions are as followed:The distribution of baseband soil is a result of both parent material and climate factors. Climate factors determine the water and heat of soil formation, and involving in process of efflorescing of parent materials and geochemical process such as geological leaching. It affects the accumulation and decomposition of organic matter by controlling the life activities of plants and microorganisms. With the rise of temperature, the process of efflorescing speeds up. Anyway, warm and moist climatic conditions promotes mineral weathering, increased removal of the silicon-rich almandine effect, thus affecting the distribution of alfisol and ferrisol.In border are of Hubei and Jiangxi province, adhesion mechanism and iron rich aluminized effect both exist, and iron rich aluminized effect is the dominate effect. In reseach area, from north to south, adhesion mechanism becomes weak, and iron rich aluminized effect becomes strong. Iron rich aluminized effect takes lead in south of the tropics area.The current classification standard has certain irrationality. Through the analysis of the physical and chemical properties and other factors, we found that the standard of CEC7(clay) 24 cmol/kg couldn’t reflect the classification principles, while when it will be better when the standard rise to 50~60 cmol/kg.
