Some androecious genotypes of Diospyros spp. were collected form Dabie Mountains, they exhibit stable characteristic of bearing staminate flowers with high pollen yield. The values as PCNA persimmon pollinizer tree of those androecious germplasms are not clear. ‘Soshu’, ‘Uenishi-wase’ were used as leading cultivar and “Male 1”, “Male 8” together with ‘Zenjimaru’ as pollen donor. Comprehensive evaluation was generated based on the investigation of the fruit set, yield, internal and external fruit quality since pollination. F1 generations with 30 individuals were tested using RO2 and DlSx-AF4 S SCAR markers for selecting novel C-PCNA genotypes.1. Pollen biology characteristic of androecious genotypes were investigated. The blooming period of “Male 1”, “Male 8” accommodate ‘Soshu’, ‘Uenishi-wase’ and ‘Taishuu’ pistillate flowering time. The germination rate in vitro of “Male 1” was highest(42.2%) among staminate genotypes. The germination rate in vitro of “Male 8” was similar to ‘Zenjimaru’. Pollen of “Male 1”, “Male 8” and ‘Zenjimaru’ could germinate on the stigma and penetrate into style of ‘Soshu’, ‘Uenishi-wase’ and ‘Taishuu’. “Male 1”, “Male 2”, “Male 3”, “Male 8”, “Male 10” and “Male 11” should be hexaploid according to flow cytometry analysis.2. The effects of pollinizer to the fruit setting and quality. ‘Soshu’ and ‘Uenishi-wase’ all obtained the highest percentage of fruit setting accounting for 30.2% or 53.8% by using “Male 8” as pollen donor. The fruit weight of ‘Soshu’ pollinated with “Male 8” and the ‘Uenishi-wase’ pollinated with ‘Zenjimaru’ were 231 g and 174 g on average. Meanwhile, fruit mean weights were lowest of ‘Soshu’ and ‘Uenishi-wase’ presented in open pollination treatment. There were significant differences on fruit juice or skin color by using different pollinizer. PCA analysis showed that “Male 8” won the highest score after comprehensive investigation of external or internal quality.3. SCAR marker detection in F1 progenies of “Taishuu×Male 1”. Fifteen individuals presented RO2 marker which correspond to C-PCNA trait, while 26 F1 genotypes exhibited DlSx-AF4 S marker which linked to male presence. Only one F1 individual was screened out for which showed RO2 marker but without DlSx-AF4 S, it’s implied this material should be female C-PCNA genotype.In summary, “Male 8” showed a superior expression based on various analyses, so “Male 8” should be an attractive candidate as orchard pollinizer tree. One C-PCNA female genotype were generated from “Taishuu × Male 1”, and need further evaluation.
