In transplanting process, mechanization of transplanting is the trend of the times. Nowadays, research of automatic transplanter is the key point in agricultural machinery field. The design of planting mechanism determines transplanter’s working performance and market competitiveness in some ways. This paper proposes a new transplanting mechanism combined crank-rocker lingkage and parallelogram linkage. Major research contents focus on this planting mechanism are as follows:1. Aimed at dibble transplanter, this paper gives an detailed account of 6 typical planting mechanisms’structure, operating principle and features. Analysed their working track and indicated the design direction of new planting mechanism.2. Proposes the crank-rocker and parallelogram linkage planting mechanism, introduces its working principle and structure. Equations of its displacement, velocity and acceleration were established to analyze its working performance. An analysis program for this mechanism based on Visual Basic 6.0 was also developed.3. Studies the relation between size parameters of the planting mechanism and the motion trail’s flat degree. The research result shows that the mechanism’s pole position angle and the motion trail’s flat degree are negative correlated. This paper also makes studies about the relation between the motion trail’s buckle size and the working result.4. According to the requirements of operation, setted the constraint conditions and established the objective functions, through the linear weighted method by MATLAB optimizing calculation, gained a series of optimal design parameters. And the planting mechanism’s virtual 3D model is built to verify its motion trail by computer simulation.5. Analyses the planting mechanism’s operating circle and designs the orderliness of cup’s opening and closing. Makes specific 3D model designs about its components and proceeds virtual assembly, interference examine and movement simulation.6. Manufactured a experimental prototype according to the above-mentioned researches and designs. Mensurated its working power, torsion and acceleration by some interior rack experiments. Tested the prototype’s operating performance and verified the design’s reliability by a real field experiment. The experiments’results showed that this planting mechanism can fully satisfy the field operation requirements.
