In this research, Pinus massoniana and Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forest is the research,s object. We analyze the intraspecific and interspecific competition with the data collected from 16 sample plots by applying competition area method and Hegyi,s competition index model. Purpose is to explore the intraspecific and interspecific interaction and the relation between intensity of competition with DBH which can provide fundamental basis for reasonable protection of Pinus massoniana resources and density of management. The results show that:(1)The Pinus massoniana amount of Class Ⅳ and Class V is large which take up great proportion; Class I is few. The Pinus massoniana mixed artificial forest in this locality for the most part are young forest and mature forest.(2)On the basis of theoretic and mathematic methods, the rightness sample radius defined 5m from the amount of 20230 datas.Use the shifting methods to eliminate effects of edge, 124 trees are selected to be objective tree. All the trees which is at the distance of 5 meters and overlap tree crown to the object tree in this area is competitive trees, also included the trees obtained from shifting.(3)The intraspecific, interspecific competition intensity of subjective tree Pinus massoniana decreases with increase in diameter class and the interspecific competition intensity is more intensive than intraspecific competition intensity.(4)The relation between competition intensity and individual size of objective tree in diameter class closely following equation CI=AD-B. When diameter size of objective tree≥20cm, change of competition intensity is small. To a certain extent, this research offers the reference value to the management of Pinus massoniana-Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forest. Management measure can be took when diameter size of Pinus massoniana ≥20cm, for example, remit the competition intensity from competitive trees by intermediate felling Quercus acutissima surrounding the tree Pinus massoniana which can protect and manage Pinus massoniana-Quercus acutissima mixed artificial forest effective.
