Phoebe bournei is one of Chinese rare and endangered plants, which is the first batch of national key protected wild plants. Meanwhile, it is also an excellent ornamental plant. The research on resources developing and landscape application of Phoebe bournei is great significance of both for the endangered species protection requirement and is an important way to rich landscaping tree species.Based on the four 2-year-old high-yielding Phoebe bournei pedigree primary selected by Hunan Academy of Forestry as a research object, this article determinates and compares photosynthetic physiology and growth rhythm of Phoebe bournei families to explore the physiological characteristics of Phoebe bournei pedigrees, screening the optimal family. At the same time, taking Changsha City and Jindong District of Qiyang County as the research site, this article investigates community, configure and application of Phoebe bournei. It explores the physiological characteristics of Phoebe bournei and application in the garden by determinating and analysing related data.It indicates that Phoebe bournei seedlings are shade tolerant plant by the study on photosynthetic characteristics. The mean value of LCP was 8.71 mol·m-2·s-1.The mean value of LSP was 399.29 mol·m-2·s-1.The mean value of AQY was 0.06, with a strong use low-light capabilities. The mean photosynthetic rate between months on the growing season showed a single peak curve,with the maximum photosynthetic rate on September. It reached the peak at 5.18-6.66 mol·m-2·s-1. The diurnal variation of transpiration rate showed a bimodal curve in June, while others were single peak curves. Seasonal variation of transpiration rate of Phoebe bournei pedigrees showed single peak curves, with the peak of 2.1-2.6mmo·m-2·s-1. The mean value of CCP of Phoebe bournei pedigree seedling was 103.68mol· mol-1, while the mean value of CSP was 1780.18 mol·mol-1.It means that Phoebe bournei can adapt to a wide range of CO2 concentration. The mean value of CE was 0.0153 that means the photosynthetic rate is low in the low concentration of CO2,the height and ground diameter of Phoebe bournei pedigrees showed a ladder growth.Trend is "fast slow fast slow fast slow fast slow" on the study of growth rhythm. The ground diameter growth lagged behind the growth of seedlings height growth. The amount of seedling height growth is more than 50 percent. After the completion of the peak, it is associated with the presence of a moratorium on dry matter accumulation. The first peak of ground diameter growth is the maximum. The mean value of root shoot ratio of Phoebe bournei pedigrees was 0.26, which means the aboveground growth was of a great deal. The mean value of seedling height was 100.85cm, while 10.16mm of ground diameter Phoebe bournei is a deep root tree, the average length of root was 25.75cm.Participants bournei pedigree photosynthetic characteristics related indicators were not significant, the growth rhythm significant difference. Height, diameter and volume growth and net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate fit the size of the sort. The 8th is the best pedigree in multiple traits comprehensive slection.Application research shows that Phoebe bournei is shade tolerant at seeding age, but needs light enhancement as growing. The Phoebe bournei landscape utilization rate is low,green seedlings are still missing. Configuration of Phoebe bournei is various, mainly as the six ways: isolated planting, coupled planting, clump planting, group planting, row planting, and forest planting. It used mainly in the form of shade trees, street trees,cluster and forest.
